Concept

Growmate is a quiz platform customized to your knowledge, updated with the latest trends. It allows you to learn what you need to best manage your industry and connect with other professionals.

Customer Journey

Starting from the concept, a customer journey (here represented in the original language) has been developed following the ideal process of the user during the service, enlightening the touchpoints with the company to reflect on the critical points of the designed experience.

Jobs to Be Done

After defining the personas and its customer journey, it was important to think about the Jobs to Be Done, some of the tasks needed to ensure a valuable user experience. This thought process is a very useful step to convert the ideal journey into a more structured flow for the actual application. Here are some of the JTBDs developed:

“When I take a quiz I want to see right away what I did wrong so next time I don’t make a mistake, and I learn it”

“When I finish a quiz I want to keep my real identity hidden so I don’t have to be ashamed if I score low”

“When I finish a quiz I want to see only the bests, so I see directly who can help me/figures useful for my business”

“When I search for a user I want to see his level in that skill so I can search directly for the required level”

“When I see the best users I want to be able to click, so I can see their profile and understand what are their skills”

User Flow

Here is represented the User Flow: a technical representation of the interactions of the user from the login page to the end of the experience, that focuses on actions and gives an overall idea of the skeleton of the application to develop. From this schema, it’s easier to design an architecture of pages that then will become the prototype.

Architecture

The architecture has three main functions in its first level: learn, share and you. Learn lets you access different learning categories, each composed of an arguments section, with lessons and related quizzes, and a leaderboard that organizes users by score. It is possible to see the score of a neighbour, as well as the absolute ranking.

The “You” section contains personal information and achievements over time, while the “share” is reserved for the contact between users and with the bank itself, in case you need advice or want to make your knowledge available.

Wireframe

The drafting of the architecture was initially performed through the creation of the wireframe, where the main functions of testing and contact between users were designed in their functional detail, before undergoing the finalizing process of developing the UI and brand identity of Growmate.

Branding

Light and informal tone of voice. This is very useful to ensure more effective management of one’s social network, therefore easier to get in touch with other users. Illustrations, moreover, generate greater empathy.

Engaging Phrase

The engaging phrase is "A New way to learn and share business", which represents the central idea of Growmate, to allow everyone to learn and share everything about business through gamification and the continuous exchange of ideas between users.

To match this tone of voice, a saturated and vibrant palette was chosen. The palette consists of five basic colors. Among them, dark blue is commonly used for text and interactive parts, while light grey is commonly used with the background. The other three colors express multiple aspects of the visual, especially illustrations and green for progress bars.

The typeface chosen is ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std, a fairly large family that allows flexibility and hierarchy on screen, and IBM plex Sans for more readable text.

User Interface

With all the elements set, the application can be finalized in his design. The design of the User Interface includes all the studies of needs, flow, Experience and look to ensure a consistent output for the target chosen.

Atomic Design

A strong and consistent brand identity has allowed the development of an equally effective User Interface. It has been developed according to the logic of a design system. In Atomic Design, every single page is composed of elements that can be broken down. Single icons and other elements are united in more complete systems defined as molecules that in turn are united in organisms.

Learn section

Two of the main parts of the developed application are shown here.

Learn is the section dedicated to quiz completion, filtered by user profiling and promising continuous feedback to help them learn from their mistakes. Included are rewards that can be activated on the bank’s app.

Share section

The sharing section, on the other hand, is reflected in the leaderboards/dedicated section on the navigation bar. From here, you can see who the top users are and, more importantly, those who are close to you (so you can be more effective in expanding your social network). Profiles also have timelines on completed quizzes, so it’s possible to see how up-to-date the individual user is on the topic.

User testing

A first user test showed that users were generally satisfied with the app, having given on average the following ratings: adequate style 9.6/10, 8.6/10 the likelihood of trying the app and the average price about 3.7€.

User tests have been conducted through Maze.com and have involved 12 persons.
